My first step into Nootropics

When my third baby was just a few months old I started looking into ways to increase my energy, mood and attention. In reality I know that exercise and good diet are the best way to achieve this but after recovering from a crash c-section, dealing with PTSD and crippling anxiety related to that experience, dealing with my usual PPD, surviving on roughly 45 minutes of sleep each night, being a mother of 3, AND returning to work full time diet and exercise just weren't going to happen. Anyone who has dealt PTSD, anxiety and PPD will know that just getting out of bed is a challenge. During those first few months survival was the name of the game. I was already taking an Zoloft, Zanax, and Adderall but was not happy with the effects. Zoloft numbs me out emotionally, Zanax makes me sleepy, and due to the level of fatigue and my metabolism the highest dose of Adderall only lasts 2-4 hours. None of these side effects are great when you are a wife, mother and work full time.  For me

This last year has been a rough one for me. After my first baby was born I struggled with PPD. After months of struggling I began medication and started collecting nail polish. It was a little thing but that one act of self care made a huge difference in my mental health. After my second baby it was makeup and knitting. Now after my third baby ... well it is yet to be seen. I have, for the last 9 months struggled horribly with PTSD, PPD and anxiety. Worse than I have been since I was a teenager. In turn my adult ADD is much much worse than it has ever been and I'm starting to realize that my fatigue and almost constant pain and discomfort may be something else entirely (Fibromyalgia?)  I am currently taking medication however many of the medications that help the most (for the anxiety and ADD) are controlled substances. Because of the current "Opioid Crisis" many of the prescriptions that are used to effectively treat ADD and anxiety (non-opioids BTW) are becom

China Glaze Sun-Kissed

Sun-Kissed is a another win! This is a neon lemon yellow polish with a lighter shimmer to it and dries to a semi gloss finish (just a bit shinier than Splish Slash). Just like China Glaze Splish Splash I was able to achieve full coverage in two coats without fuss. Another thing that I will note is that the brush seemed a bit different in Sun-Kissed and Splish Splash. I had little to no clean up after all was said and done with these polishes where as China Glaze Love's a Beach required a ton of clean up. Pictures to come...

China Glaze Splish Splash

So my last two neon polishes (Salon Perfect's Loopy Lime and China Glaze's Love's a Beach) provided amazing results after much fuss. I was NOT impressed with either formula. They were both too finicky for me. Splish Splash from China Glaze's Summer Neon Collection is worlds apart! I could tell, after just the first coat, that this was a polish I was going to be happier with. First, this polish is not streaky and self levels!! YAY! Second, the brush didn't "clump up" like the other polishes. And third, I was able to achieve full coverage in just two coats. I wouldn't necessarily consider this to be a neon polish but it is beautiful. It is a true blue polish with a lighter blue shimmer and dries to a satin finish. Photo's to come...I'm in the process of setting up my mac for easier photo uploading and hopefully will be pulling my professional camera out of storage so that I can take better quality photo's.

Dior Creme Abricot Review

In my search for cuticle oil and moisturizers last week I ran across a number of reviews for Dior Creme Abricot. Every single review I read was extremely positive and most reviewers stated that they had used the product for 20+ years. To my delight I found that this product was only $25. Normally I would not spend this kind of money on any product but all the reviews stated that the creme is extremely concentrated and lasts forever.  I am really optimistic about this product. Not only do I feel super fancy carrying around this little pot with the Dior logo on it but it is very thick and really seams to do the trick moisturizing my very dry nails and cuticles. The instructions recommend using this cream at night to allow it to soak in. In reality it's best to use this cream at night because it is super sticky! Because I typically surf the web on my iPad while laying in bed, and didn't like the idea of a greasy, sticky iPad I'm actually going to be keeping this at my d

Orly Cuticle Oil

I purchased Orly's Cuticle Oil on Amazon thinking that I was getting the full sized bottle. I received the package last night and was a bit disappointed to find that what I purchased was a 1 oz. bottle of Orly Smart Gels Cuticle Oil. Luckily I only spent $5 for it and I actually really like this oil! This oil is very think, almost like a gel but absorbs wonderfully. My favorite part is that it has a fruity scent (Watermelon?) which is much more pleasant than the lavender scented Julep Cuticle oil I have been using. The downside...this is yet another oil that doesn't provide enough moisture to keep my cuticles soft and looking healthy. Living in Colorado has really done a number on my skin and I am finding that I need products that not only moisturize but hold the moisture in.

China Glaze Love's a Beach - Fail

In my last post I mentioned that after a major fail with Salon Perfect brand nail polish I decided to go ahead a purchase China Glazes Summer Neon collection. China Glaze has, in the past, been a go to polish for me. Their polishes are normally well formulated and super easy to work with. So far I am NOT HAPPY with the Summer Neon Collection. I choose Love's a Beach to try first since I have been searching for the perfect neon pink. As I am writing this I can tell you I have not finished painting my nails but wanted to get a few thoughts down as I'm waiting in between coats. I am currently on my THIRD coat of Love's a Beach and fear I'm going to need a fourth coat. I am finding this polish is more finicky and difficult to work with than Salon Perfect's Loopy Lime. The first coat went on very streaky and I immediately noticed that the brush was picking up clumps of dried polish. In between coats I am having to shake the polish to clear the brush. The second
